One Journey, One Path

Hymn 989 from “How To Be Happy – The Maxus Irie Book of Happiness”

One Journey, One Path

Follow the path down to the sea

The water of life will set you free

Stretching away as far as can be

The truth and the love of Maxus Irie

Breasting the waves of the ocean of life

The winds of change, the tides of strife

Riding the crest as far as can be

The love and the truth of Maxus Irie

Cresting the currents of night and day

Where fisher folk toil and dolphins play

Seeking new friendships as far as can be

The truth and love of Maxus Irie

We are the currents, the wind and the sea

The happiness and love that sets you free

Sharing our message as far as can be

The love and the truth of Maxus Irie

Follow the path down to the sea

The water of life will set you free

Stretching away as far as can be

The truth and the love of Maxus Irie

When is a cult not a cult?

Cultology…

William Tarkovsky

Is a cult a cult if it calls itself a cult?

Is a cult a cult if it denies it is a religion?

Is a cult a cult if it is fundamentally secular?

These questions are all raised by the phenomenon of Maxus Irie, the so-called ‘captivating cult of happiness and joy’. Visiting the website http://www.captivatingcult.com you might think that you have stumbled upon something fundamentally innocent, particularly if you click on the link to be ‘transported to another place’…. but can a cult ever be truly innocent?

Judging by the t-shirts, I suspect the answer may be “Yes”.
